WHO ARE WE?
The NM Genders & Sexualities Alliance Network is a youth-driven program that increases resiliency, self-efficacy, positive self-identity, and effective self-regulation skills among LGBTQIA2S+ youth ages 13-24 and adults.
Through our programming, NMGSAN also works to prevent suicidal thoughts and behaviors, problematic substance use, bullying, and school pushout. NMGSAN works directly with youth and adults via peer training, peer support, and leadership development; and with schools, youth-serving organizations and communities to provide education and training to adults. Our Youth Council oversees our work and provides guidance on new programming and initiatives. All of our work is done through an intersectional lens.
WHAT DO WE DO?
YOUTH EVENTS
Our overnight and day-long events build resiliency and leadership skills. These include youth-led training on identity, social justice/oppression, healthy relationships, political and advocacy education, social networking, and peer helping skills.
NETWORKING
We provide opportunities for LGBTQ+ youth to connect through events, as well as through social media sites such as Facebook, Discord and Instagram.
GSA CLUB SUPPORT
We support GSA Clubs through in-person visits, providing resources and offering assistance to clubs on topics from starting a GSA, to meeting topics, and how to take your GSA to the next level.
COMMUNITY TRAINING
We provide training for school staff, counselors, and community members on how to be supportive and inclusive of LGBTQ+ youth.
AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS
We facilitate and promote participation in national campaigns to raise awareness and educate schools to reduce the stigma associated with being LGBTQ+ and create safer school climates.
