— Counseling Services
Accessible, trauma-informed mental health care for all
New Mexicans
Outpatient therapy and community support for individuals and families; wherever you are in your journey.
Creating space and delivering tools
You may be ending a relationship, adjusting to a new home, navigating parenthood, or finding stability after a substance use crisis. You don't have to do it alone.
The Mountain Center's Counseling Services program provides outpatient therapy and Comprehensive Community Support Services (CCSS) for individuals and families navigating mental health challenges, trauma, substance use, and life transitions. We create a space where people can explore what's happening in their lives, develop tools for managing difficult emotions and situations, and work toward the changes they want to see.
Our sessions take place in person at our Santa Fe office or online via HIPAA-compliant telehealth platforms, accessible anywhere in New Mexico. We offer flexible, evidence-based care grounded in respect, cultural awareness, and the belief that healing happens in relationships.
We welcome individuals and families of all genders,
ages 12 and up
College students and young adults
Parents seeking support
People in recovery from substance use
Individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, or grief
LGBTQIA2S+ individuals
Anyone facing life transitions or mental health concerns
Priority services for New Mexicans who experience systemic oppression, poverty, and intergenerational trauma. These communities often face barriers to accessing mental health care. We accept Medicaid and most major insurance providers. Our sessions take place in-person or online via HIPAA-compliant telehealth platforms that are easy to access.
Removing barriers to mental health care
Mental health care in New Mexico is hard to access. High costs and stigma keep people from getting support when they need it most. For those who've experienced trauma or marginalization, finding a therapist who understands your lived experience can feel impossible.
Our Counseling Services program aims to remove those barriers. We accept Medicaid and most major insurance providers. We have contracts that often cover therapy and CCSS services for uninsured individuals - please inquire! All of our therapists are trained in trauma-informed approaches to mental health care.
Evidence-based, trauma-informed, community-centered care
Evidence-based practices are proven to help
We use therapeutic approaches backed by research — methods shown to reduce symptoms, improve coping skills, and support lasting change. Our therapists adapt evidence-based practices to fit each person's unique needs, culture, and goals.
Trauma-informed care creates safety
Many of our clients have experienced trauma — from violence, systemic oppression, or adverse childhood experiences. Trauma-informed care means we understand how trauma affects the brain and body, and we create conditions where people can heal.
Relationships are the foundation
Research shows that the therapeutic relationship is one of the strongest predictors of positive outcomes. Our therapists prioritize building genuine, respectful connections with clients.
Practical life stability is a necessity
We offer Comprehensive Community Support Services (CCSS) for adult clients on Medicaid. These services support clients with employment, relapse prevention, housing, and other essential domains of life. CCSS is offered standalone or as a complement to therapeutic treatment.
Flexibility to meet people's needs
Some clients need weekly sessions. Others need more or less frequent support. We adjust frequency and approach based on what each person needs.
We address barriers to access
By accepting Medicaid, offering telehealth, and contracting with community programs, we serve people who might otherwise go without care.
